The purpose of these evenings, apart from to create some excitement around the new shoe, was mainly to share the stories of selected individuals who have taken their professions to the edge. From physical to technological feats, both nights centred around truly inspiring people. And with the London Marathon soon approaching this Sunday, the opportunity to provide a night of motivational talks was perfectly timed.
Adventurers Mark Beaumont and Anna McNuff kicked things off with a burst of fascinating exploration tales on the Tuesday night, while WIRED UK magazine’s David Rowan and designer Ruby Steel talked all things creativity and technology on the Wednesday. Partnering with WeWork, the office space company, their Shoreditch base hosted the first night, while Aldwych was the location for the second.
Each speaker had something unique to bring to the events, and every one of them has achieved something great in their own field. Mark is an athlete and broadcaster for example, and has experienced some incredible things on his travels and adventures. While David, the founding editor-in-chief of WIRED UK, has a wealth of business knowledge and advice that has left everyone with something to think about.
An inspiring night
Whether it was Anna’s energy and humour people warmed to, Mark’s phenomenal achievements on the bike, Ruby’s passion and emotion or David’s words of wisdom, there really was something for everyone. And when the evenings are long, you know it’s worth it when you come away feeling energised and happy with the night you and your team have helped put together.
Only 200 pairs of the Cloud Edge will be released in the UK, which proves just how limited they are. And it’s nice knowing that a night filled with positivity and good energy surrounded such a release. I mean, maybe there really is more to a shoe launch than meets the eye? The edge surrounding this one was noticeable, that’s for sure!
